Here at Ashur Collective, we love anything myth-and-pop inspired. The best of both of worlds can be found in the illustrations of Gojin Ishihara.  Pink Tentacle has a ton of art from him on their blog.

We have to warn you that some of this stuff is pretty macabre–including a beautiful painting that actually depicts someone being flayed alive.  Ouch!  Ironically, the illustrations were all for children’s books in the seventies.  That’s some pretty heavy stuff to grow up on.
